GARDEN CLUB OF OHIO FALL DISTRICT MEETING

This will be our October meeting.  NOTICE this date is not our regular meeting time.

9:00-10:15 a.m.     Registration

10:45a.m.                Program:  “Landscaping for Winter Interest”

Noon                         Lunch:  Swiss Steak or Scrod

Afternoon                 Program:  “Landscape Photography

Through Your Mind’s Eye”

The Garden Club will pay for this program and lunch.  Guests are welcome and their cost is $18 for lunch and programs.  Call me if you are not signed up.

The National Gardener magazine included an article about” Pollinator Friendly Approach to Landscape Design”.  Everyone should examine their own property to determine how to make it more inviting for pollinators, birds and bats.  They provide 1/3 of the food we eat.  Is your yard attractive to them?  Plan ahead when you buy your plants next year.

LAKE CABLE RETIREES

THE LAKE CABLE RETIREES HELD THEIR REGULAR MEETING ON THURSDAY SETPEMBER 21ST WITH AND INTERESTING AND VERY INFORMATIVE PROGRAM PRIOVIDED BY RANDY GONZALEZ OF JACKSON TOWNSHIP.  HE UPDATED US ON EVERYTHING REGARDING THE LIBRARY, TAM ‘O SHANTER AND MANY OTHER THINGS HAPPENING IN THE TOWNSHIP.  IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO HEAR HIM SPEAK BEFORE THE ELECTION, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO SO.  NEXT MEETING OUR SPEAKER WILL BE ANOTHER OF OUR MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR SERIES, STAN BARNES OF CSE CREDIT UNION.

Lake Cable Sportsman Club

Minutes for Sportsman Club 8/12/2017

Meal was our annual Fish Fry, thanks Rick Schworm. Ron Eschliman shared his perfect Green Bean Casserole with the group.

Guest speaker was our own Ted Petty talking about boat care and winterizing. He noted that more fuel options are becoming available.

Another Great Lake Report was given by Tom Gibbins. Remember the water is lower this time of year. More doors are being replaced in the clubhouse.

Meeting minutes were read.

Ted Petty gave the financial report.

Old Business;

  1. We are considering another try at a casino trip. Decision will be made Next Month.
  2. Chops and Hops is September 30th. Tickets are on sale. Setup will be that Saturday morning, volunteers needed.
  3. Ticket Barrels have arrived and the club is going to offer the use of them to other Lake Cable Associations.

New business;

  1.  Ron Eschliman was presented with a gift card for his service providing a monthly side-dish for all to enjoy.
  2. Speakers for October and November were announced. Starks Parks will speak in October and bring information on all the programs the offer. A security expert will speak on internet and banking security in November.

LAKE CABLE WOMAN’S CLUB MEETING

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2017, 7:00 P.M.

Hi, Gals!  Our next meeting will be Thursday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m. and our hubbies are invited to come with us!   It will be our “Beer and Wine Tasting Event” with snacks, such as cheese and crackers!   It is free for both you and your guy if you have attended at least 2 meetings this year!   Otherwise, it is $10 each.  See you there!!!

At our meeting, I’ll be doing Devotions; Debbie Gibbins and Janice Sweitzer will do Hospitality; and Cynthia Harty and her Committee of Liz Dunlap, Dana Durr and Mary Fruchey will do Refreshments!  Thanks, girls, for serving our Club!

I also want to remind you to pay your dues as soon as possible.  They’re $10.00 and are due by November 1!  Also, the Nominating Committee is looking for gals who are interested in serving our Club as an officer or other position.  If you are interested, please contact Molly Romano!

On Thursday, October 19, at 1:00 p.m., Woman’s Club is sponsoring a Greeting Card “Make N Take” Session in the Cherry Room.  The cost is $2 per card.  Please call or email Connie Little to find out more and let her know you’re interested.
