Welcome to Lake Cable. Lake Cable is a diamond in the rough located at 5725 Fulton Dr NW, Canton, OH. Once you become a property owner we invite you to join the Lake Cable Recreation Association, Inc.
Lake Cable was built in the early 1920’s by brother’s Dueber and Austin Cable. The clubhouse was built shortly after the lake was completed. The Lake Cable Recreation Association, Inc. was formed on May 28, 1928 to operate the Association. Many improvements have been made over the years with an eye on the charm of the past.
What comes with your membership? Boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, access to use of the clubhouse, pavilion and back patio and membership in the internal clubs is all included.
The clubhouse is 15,000 square feet which includes five party/meeting rooms, the office, storage and a woman’s locker room. Three of the party/meeting rooms are for rent by the members of the Association. Lake Cable also owns 15 acres of commons areas.
There is an outdoor pavilion located on the west side of the clubhouse which holds 140 people suitable for nearly any size picnic or reunion. There are fixed picnic tables, grills and restrooms for use with the pavilion.
On the east side of the clubhouse is a large sand beach complete with a diving board and large trapeze swing, a concession stand, restrooms and locker room for changing, a patio and deck for lounging and tables on which to sit and eat a bite from the concession stand. A fulltime lifeguard staff keeps everyone safe.
The lake itself is 150 acres which average 14 feet deep. Great fishing includes bass, walleye, perch, channel cat fish and several varieties of pan fish. Pontoon boats are the most popular boats on the lake. Fishing boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, paddle boards and sail boats are also used regularly. Boat size is limited to 24 feet in length and the horse power is limited to 9.9.
Waterfront members enjoy their own docks but for persons living off of the water there are docks available for rent from the Association. Please check availability and price with the office. You’ll want a boat to enjoy the Annual Third of July fireworks display; none better in the Canton area.
The internal clubs provide most of the social activities. They include the Garden Club and Fish Club which are open to all members, the Retirees Club which is open to all retired members. In addition, we have the Woman’s Club open to all female members and the Sportsman’s Club which is open to all male members. Some activities include a beach dance, an epic float boat parade, steak stag and other events. All events are listed in the Lake Cable Newsletter which is mailed to the membership monthly. The newsletter includes valuable information concerning the lake and up coming events.
Prospective members must first be owners of one of more properties in the Lake Cable Allotment. Call the office to check if a property is eligible and if past fees exist. Membership does not come with property purchase. Once closed you are invited to join the Lake Cable Recreation Association. Membership includes access to the lake, fishing, boating, the beach, swimming, use of the clubhouse and access the internal clubs. Membership in not mandatory but non member property owners are not permitted to use the lake or facilities as guests.
